Valentino is a name that made the history of fashion and changed the rules of style imposing the Made in Italy luxury in the world. Founded in 1960 by fashion designer Valentino Garavani and his partner Giancarlo Giammetti, the brand was immediately distinguished for class, femininity and timeless elegance of its creations.

The first collection of Haute Couture was shown at Palazzo Pitti in Florence in 1962, and only five years later the famous collection realized in white was totally bought by Jackie Kennedy Onassis, contributing to the increasing fame of the talented designer and his success especially in the US, where his style was always identified with good taste and elegance. Women's Wear Daily magazine crowned him "king of Italian fashion" and among his prestigious clients were princesses, queens, Hollywood stars and singers. Elizabeth Taylor, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, the Princess Paola of Liege and Princess Margaret of Windsor, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow were testimonial, muses and friends of the great designer.

The 70s and 80s were a series of successes, awards, openings of new boutiques in the most renowned locations, of artistic and cultural collaborations, from the famous portrait by Andy Warhol in 1971 to the realization of a branded car, to the uniforms designed for Olympic athletes to the excellent collaboration with the world of theater and ballet.

The 90s and 2000s were full of commercial success and expansion of the brand. In 1998 it was bought by HDP Group and in 2002 by the Marzotto Group. In 2005, Valentino Fashion Group which includes all lines of clothing and accessories of the designer, was publicly quoted. In 2012 the brand was sold to the companies Mayhoola of Qatar, giving new life to creative and commercial development to the label.

The 45th anniversary of Valentino’s work represented a moment of great change for the Maison. The anniversary was celebrated sumptuously with a Haute Couture runway in Rome, the opening of an exhibition dedicated to his career and with a film that tells the life and work of this great master of fashion, "Valentino, The Last Emperor" . In 2007 the designer decided to withdraw from the scene, giving way first to Alessandra Facchinetti and then to the creative duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, already designers of the accessory line, who were nominated creative directors in 2008.

Strengthened by a long heritage, the two designers were able to combine the tradition of Maison with a more modern vision, infusing the collections of Haute Couture and ready-to-wear with a delicate femininity and contemporary aesthetics. Since July 2016, after the departure of Chiuri, Pier Paolo Piccioli became the creative director, starting a new course in the evolution of the brand, without forgetting the cultural and stylistic roots in the high tailoring and in the incredible quality of the creations.

The Valentino collections include both the line of Haute Couture, characterized by unique garments entirely handmade using artisanal techniques and precious fabrics, which interprets the highest stylistic research values and the aesthetic ideals of the Maison, and the line of ready-to -porter shown every season during the Fashion Weeks, characterized by a newest and most dynamic interpretation of style and creativity.
