The new season brings with it a shot of life and the desire for a fresh start, to renew our wardrobe with style and elegance. Spring summer 2019 trends for tops and shirts seen on runways during the latest fashion weeks propose an eclectic woman, whose tastes range from the romanticism of floral patterns and transparent lace, to the most strong look of animal print and camouflage, to the more casual wearability of women’s fitness-style sweatshirts or of t-shirts with ironic prints, like those by Moschino.
Precious, sporty or funny, t-shirts for all tastes T-shirts
T-shirts are not only sporty, but become elegant and precious with lace details combined to the classic cotton and to jersey laminated or covered by sequins embroideries, like those by Twin-set, Michel Kors and Avant Toi. Now t-shirts are conceptual and asymmetrical, off the shoulder as those seen in the Max Mara’s fashion show or which play with the combination of different fabrics for Dsquared2. Recalling the mythical Ninenties they have minimal shapes and are made in simple solid colored cotton, but at Chloé, Stella McCartney and J.W. Anderson t-shirts are also oversize with maxi proportions, sleeves longer than usual or high collars and are used overlapping other garments, long on leggings, tight jeans and even on dresses.
Short, too short. Welcome back crop-top
Tops and tank tops are the real protagonists of the season, made in all colors and shapes. Crop-tops are very short and are practically everywhere on spring summer catwalks, from Blumarine, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Armani, having sexy close-fitting lines that are perfect under the jacket or matched to midi length skirts or shorts. For Burberry and Alberta Ferrettitank tops recall the sensuality of lingerie in tender pastel colors with lace decors, while the sporty tank tops are inspired by the Eighties and are decidedly low-cut, as well as the denim tops with broad shoulders or the strapless band short corsets of Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana.

Eighties inspiration for sporty sweatshirts and sweaters
Sweatshirts and sweaters are not only suitable for gym, but now are perfect to be worn with a casual look, long as a dress and matched with trainers or ankle boots. Women’s hoodies recall the American girls look of the Ninenties, rediscovering the crew neck at Alberta Ferretti or being cropped and oversize with hoods, sleeveless or with long puffed sleeves, colored with neon tones, in the classic black or in the brand-new coral shade at Dsquared2 and Kenzo. The heavy cotton version for springtime or the coolest evening of the season is a jacket-like sweatshirt with zip closure or can be an original cape that can be worn in place of the jacket, maybe with a turtleneck or a wool sweater.
