Fall/winter 2016-17 will be full of interesting ideas for women's footwear. Very different inspirations, ranging from rock to romantic dark, from cowboy to minimal or to sporty-chic
Boots are playing a starring role: they are present in all shapes, at the ankle, knee or higher up to mid-thigh, in the leather cuissard models by Balenciaga and Vetements, in suede by Stephane Roland, with a stockings effect at Givenchy, with romantic touch thanks to soft ruffles at Fendi.
Knee-lenght boots have a Victorian look with crossed straps, in the models with wedge by Prada or in velvet by Miu Miu and Alberta Ferretti, We see them 70’s inspired, soft and draped at Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini or conceptual in black with automatic buttons closure by Costume National. The rock attitude, in its myriad declinations, contaminates many collections:
- As a tribute to David Bowie, the boots in patent leather by Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and Vivienne Westwood or animal printed leather by Maison Margiela have large heels and maxi platforms.
- the bikers by Diesel Black Gold or the ankle boots with studs by Elisabetta Franchi look back to the 50’s rock
- inspired by grunge, the combat boots with contrasting straps at MSGM, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs
- country rock atmosphere for texans boots with fringes by Anthony Vaccarello, Coach and Fay
The most used materials are velvet, brocade, patent leather and suede, while colors, beyond the classic black, will be metallic and pastel, in the creations of Ashish, Emporio Armani and Valentino Garavani. Even if the main color of the season is white, with contemporary designs for Jil Sander, Stella McCartney and Fendi or with a sporty appeal for the trainers by Moncler, Tibi, Fenty and Alexander McQueen.
The classic shoes by Calvin Klein, N° 21 and Isabel Marant are matched with maxi tartan coats, while the lace-ups, stolen from men's wardrobe, have spats at Dior and Proenza Schouler, studs and rubber lug sole at Hogan and Prada, are bicolor with mountain details at Emilio Pucci, in brocade by Damir Doma. Loafers and slippers become hyper-decorated by Tod's, covered with fur at MSGM and Gucci, in metallic leather at Vivetta and Hogan, have high soles at Stuart Weitzman, Paloma Barceló and Prada.
Flat shoes have a pointed toe, ribbons at the ankle or crossed over, buckles and straps in the collections of Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo and Salvatore Ferragamo. Court shoes come back in fashion for the day outfits. The Mary Jane version, with ankle straps, is embroidered at Etro and Blugirl, in suede or patent leather by Prada. 60’s inspiration for the more classic models with squared toe, great and low heels at Michael Kors, Rene Caovilla and Miu Miu, while the 80’s models with stiletto heels by Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Moschino are very feminine.
For the evening this season, trendy ladies will also use the sandals, worn on bare skin or sheer stockings, precious as jewels by Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and Marni, which also propose them in combination with sporty looks, with fur details at Blumarine and Monse, in lurex fabric by Derek Lam, Rochas and Roger Vivier, 70's style with wedges at Prada and Giuseppe Zanotti.
