Bags are ever more essential accessories, precious allies of everyday life and real jewels for gala evenings. They are so important that one of the main fall/winter 2016-17 trends, from fashion shows by Dior, Prada, Loewe and Dsquared2, wants them carried in couple: a small bag coordinated in style and color with a larger, to contain everything necessary for our long days.
Great return of fabric clutches, that are in embroidered velvet as for Alberta Ferretti, Opening Ceremony and See by Chloé, or brocade and ton sur ton with dresses and coats as those by Dries Van Noten, Chanel, Calvin Klein and Tod's. The rock versions of Louis Vuitton, Philipp Plein, Paula Cademartori and Diesel Black Gold have fringes and studs and those by Giorgio Armani and Christian Louboutin are in black vinyl.
Mini bags are worn as belt bags, with rigid shapes at Michael Kors and Aigner, or soft ones at Celine, or are small boxes and contain just lipstick and smartphone, minimal look by Roger Vivier, in ostrich and crocodile leather by Marc Jacobs, embroidered by Alexander McQueen, jeweled at Lanvin and Prada or in countless fantasies and decorations by Dolce & Gabbana, from floral to lace and baroque décor.
Back in vogue also the vivid colors of the 80s, with the electric blue by Saint Laurent, turquoise by Blumarine, yellow saffron by Jimmy Choo, Fendi and Burberry, all shades of coral by Monique Lhuillier, Bottega Veneta and Kate Spade and pink, candy for Gucci and fuchsia for Givenchy.
This year Autumn is also lighted up by metallic glows:
- steel and anthracite, for shoulder bags in metallic leather by Alexander McQueen and Salvatore Ferragamo
- silver for the bucket bags by Stella McCartney and Miu Miu for the day or the mirror effect clutches by Proenza Schouler and Roger Vivier for evening
- gold, with glossy, satin finish or antiqued effects for Valentino, Givenchy, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana
Cross-body bags have flashy chains at Marni and Tom Ford, two-tone leathers at Louis Vuitton and Liu Jo, are in multicolor reptile at Fendi and Burberry, have saddle shapes at Emilio Pucci, Altuzarra, Jason Wu, Jil Sander and Sportmax, while totes and hobo bags choose the extravagance of fur with both short or long hair, even colored, in the proposals by Tod's, Versace, Simonetta Ravizza and Marni.
Bowling bags feature classic leathers side by side with printed and colored versions and with the return of the rigid beauty case shapes, in the 60s style by Salvatore Ferragamo, with small multicolor flowers at Anna Sui, with monograms at Vuitton, in black leather at Dolce & Gabbana.
Brand new are also the proposals of backpacks, from the extremely small by Moschino to the big size by N° 21, down to the colored decorations on black background by Fendi, Gucci and Prada.
