The woman seen on the Fall/Winter 2016-17 catwalks loves accessories and uses then to underline the character of an outfit or just to indulge in something precious and useful at the same time.
The new fashion jewellery is incredibly flashy, it features real piece of design, especially thought to not go unnoticed. Necklaces have a foulard effect at Dolce & Gabbana, are full of charms at Prada, are designed as fitted and oversized chokers at Lanvin, Balmain, Loewe and Dries Van Noten. The earrings are worn uncoordinated, matching together large and small sizes or different materials, for a bold and rock mood as at Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang. The chandelier models are similar to cameos at Alberta Ferretti or with geometrical shapes at Iceberg.
Warm and comfortable, the fur collars feature long or short hair, sometimes very precious such as Mongolia fur. They can be colored in natural dyes such as those by Miu Miu and Woolrich or in neon colors at Blugirl, and are to be worn over a coat or a jacket, while the stoles by Tome, MSGM and Diane Von Furstenberg are leaning asymmetrically on the shoulder and can be worn with an evening dress. Scarves are very long, knit at Etro and Missoni, made of silk with 70s prints at Salvatore Ferragamo, Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini and Fendi, or are floral at Blumarine and Gucci.
Gloves are back as colorful and fancy accessories. Delpozo, Oscar de La Renta and Ermanno Scervino, for example, enrich them of precious floral embroideries and gems, while Rodarte decorates the arms with leather flounces. A dark atmosphere instead lingers at Marc Jacobs, who wants them very long and in black tulle with polka dots, or at Moschino, Chanel and Max Mara, where they are long and made of leather, or at Gucci, where they are decorated with pearl studs.
The true stars of the season, however, are the belts, that emphasize the waist in a very feminine way. They can be:
- thin and in colored leather by Detacher, Fendi and Derek Lam
- as a knotted scarf, even in fur or wool, by Simonetta Ravizza and Ulla Johnson
- metal chains at Bottega Veneta and Altuzarra
- high and wraparound, in suede by Jil Stuart, like a boxing trophy at Genny, 80s style in gold and colored metallized leather at Saint Laurent, with a corset effect at Prada
- studded and aggressive at Moschino and Versace
Hats and caps remind the 40s and 70s fashion, in the shapes with men-styled wide brim of Dondup and Gucci or in the leather "newsboy" berets by Moschino. The beanies instead are in ribbed wool at Moncler and Coach or should be worn casually, with a really streetstyle attitude, at Fenty and Hood by Air.
Among other accessories trending this season, we find the crochet wool socks worn on veiled stockings even with an elegant look, as seen on the catwalks of Burberry, Prada and Marco de Vincenzo, while the sunglasses look like coming from outer space at Armani, Balenciaga, Dior and Celine, who enrich them with large chains, blinders and mirrored lenses.
Wallets and purses, strictly matched with the it-bags of the moment, are in printed leather at Dolce & Gabbana, Etro and Burberry, quilted by Miu Miu and Prada, with a rock spirit for Valentino Garavani and Stella McCartney.
