History

The founder, Gianni Versace, opened the first boutique in Milan 1978 for his line, Gianni Versace Donna, after a few years spent working as a designer for different brands like Callaghan, Genny and Complice.
Versace was the protagonist of the fashion system in the 80s and 90s, thanks to the collaborations with great photographers such as Avedon, Weber, Testino and Meisel and top models such as Carla Bruni, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer, collaborations that contributed to the blooming of the top models phenomenon of those years.

In 1997 Gianni Versace was murdered in Miami outside Casa Casuarina, known as Versace Mansion. After the tragedy, the elder brother Santo became CEO of the company and Donatella Versace became the vice-president and creative director.
The Versace Group has different brands: Versace for Women and for Men, Versus designed by Anthony Vaccarello, Atelier for the haute couture, Young, Versace Jeans, Versace Home Collection, Versace fine jewelry, a line of watches, a line of perfumes and Versace Palazzo in the hotel industry.
