Men's sunglasses

There’s no summer fashion without sunglasses, unmissable pieces to protect the eyes from the hot sun, but also to give a touch of glamour to day outfits, both sporty, casual and elegant. Among the most popular accessories, the sunglasses of spring summer 2019 underline the face shape with particular frames, a retro-taste mood and a touch of color.

Colored lenses and hi-tech frames for sunglasses dedicated to the fans of unique and special objects

If until a few years ago, sunglasses were considered only as necessary objects to bring with us for the days spent under the sun and especially on the beach, now they become true collectable objects of desire. There are so many possibilities that the most avant-garde designers try to create even more trendy models, experimenting with innovative shapes and technological materials. Among the most minimalist, but highly performing and extremely beautiful, there are those frameless with a central bar and amber lenses created by Dior, those decorated with small studs designed by Versace and the partially framed version of Moscot. This kind of model is particularly light and perfect for who wants a sophisticated look. For who loves special and creative shapes, there are the rectangular models by Mykita and Les Specs. One of the most technologically advanced innovations is that of the new lenses printed with holographic effect logo, as in the case of Gucci and Fendi, or those with iridescent mirroring lenses proposed by Dior. Sporty fashion also influences this accessory and many designers brought to the men's catwalks sunglasses inspired by sport, especially cycling and skiing, with mask-like shapes that protect very well the eyes wrapping most of the face. The cyclist-style ones were in the Kenzo, Vetements and Mykita fashion shows, with colored frames and shaded lenses, while at Prada the lenses are iridescent. Perfect for skiing, but also for the typical summer water sports or even just for being trendy, there are the big mask sunglasses proposed by Balenciaga and Oakley, while Moncler adds side protections to its round frames, making its models even more special and innovative.

Vintage inspiration for the coolest sunglasses of the season

Vintage-style is influencing all the catwalks of men's fashion and the recalls to the past are now present in the sunglasses collections of the best fashion houses. The 70s mood relive in the huge and colorful Gucci’s models, but also in the John Lennon-style round frames proposed by Eyepetizer. Late-70s-style also for the aviator sunglasses with metal frame, which can be golden, silver or burnished, and which are proposed by Givenchy, Ermenegildo Zegna, Versace, Ray Ban and Italia Independent, both with colored, amber or shaded lenses. The excesses of the 80s are back in fashion, with the huge sunglasses decorated by studs on the frame proposed by Gucci, the square and decidedly wide models by Roberto Cavalli and the geometric shapes with iridescent lenses proposed by Dior.

A touch of color to illuminate the tanned face

Color is the most important element for summer fashion and even the sunglasses designed for contemporary and trendy men are brightened-up by bold colors, or create a mysterious aura with dark shades that hide the gaze. Among the major trends seen on catwalks, there are the total-black sunglasses, ie lenses and mask-effect frames totally in black creating an extremely mysterious and captivating effect. Givenchy, Balenciaga and Saint Laurent proposed them with 80s-rock-style, while Cerruti 1881 with round frames and Les Hommes with huge dimensions. Apart from these effects, there are many colors to choose from our favorite:

  • The black frame is thick and showy for the models with shaded, colorful or amber lenses by Ray-Ban, Saint Laurent and Moncler
  • The tortoise effect also returns for the most classic sunglasses by Persol and Salvatore Ferragamo
  • White gives brightness to the tanned face and is proposed in the thick-framed sunglasses by Stella McCartney and Calvin Klein
  • Balenciaga proposes frames in bold colors, such as orange and fluorescent yellow
  • Shaded and almost iridescent lenses for the futuristic and cutting-edge models designed by Dior
  • Amber lenses for Cartier, Bottega Veneta and Boucheron
