Moncler was founded in 1952 as a factory of alpine equipment located in Monestier de Clermont, the French town the brand took the name from. The founder, René Ramillon, created the first down jackets as a work wear for his employees.
The brand started the business supplying the French mountaineer Lionel Terray and other alpinists and athletes.
Thanks to the designer Chantal Thomass, who worked for Moncler until the end of the Eighties, the outwear collection got a more fashionable aesthetic.
In 2003, the brand was bought by the Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini who is also the creative director of the main women's and men's lines of Moncler.
Moncler lines include the following:
Moncler Enfant for kids,
Moncler Grenoble that mixes a metropolitan look with technical fabrics,
Moncler Gamme Rouge for her designed by Giambattista Valli and Gamme Bleu for him by designed by Thom Browne that are the haute couture collections, and
Moncler Lunettes, the sunglasses line created by Pharrel Williams.
Moncler is the perfect brand for sports lovers who also want to be fashionable.
