Men's bags

Also this season, men’s bags are no longer seen only as a useful item for working days and journeys or to carry gym stuff, but prove to be a fashion accessory essential to establish the personal style and one that can satisfy all tastes and needs.

One of the main trends seen on men’s catwalk is undoubtedly that of the backpack. Beautiful and comfortable, at Dolce & Gabbana, Canali and Vuitton, the backpack becomes versatile and turns into a handbag, while at Philipp Plein’s it is in a rock version, studded, printed or even attached to the skateboard. Also fabrics and colours change:

  • a more serious look for the backpacks in smooth leather or crocodile in the classic black for Ports 1961, Montblanc and Michael Kors
  • stylish monochromatic suede for the daytime backpacks by Tom Ford and in black velvet for the evening by Balmain
  • animal print for Jimmy Choo and military-style in the camouflage of Valentino or the green leather by Piquadro
  • decidedly more fun the tropical fantasies of Eastpak, the dreamlike and baroque prints by Versace or the 80’s look at Kenzo and Fendi

Other protagonists of this season are the totes, mainly rectangular in shape and often large sized. With 70’s embroideries, patterns and colours by Gucci, in colored tartan at Fendi, in beige canvas at Bottega Veneta, with decorations in Indian and cowboys style by Valentino.

Great return also for the duffle bag for the weekend. Soft, large and luxurious, luggage and travel bags are made in crocodile leather at Valextra, brandy-colored or black at Dunhill, Boglioli and Ralph Lauren, made from hi-tech fabrics by Prada, in suede coordinated with the shopper at Etro or with special supports for the jacket in the design of Brioni. Bowling versions are the doctor bag style by Raf Simons and the rigid vanity case with monograms by Vuitton.

Much smaller are the cross body bags by Versace and Prada, who chooses bold colors for leathers, while those by Burberry and Fendi are in suede and have short straps. Men’s clutches are the great news of recent years, and are perfect as document holders or to carry tablets and smartphones. Ermenegildo Zegna proposes them oversized, Salvatore Ferragamo with geometric prints and Bottega Veneta strictly matched with the outfit, in magnificent colors ranging from petrol blue to gray and brown.

Shoulder bags have a more minimalist look for Emporio Armani and Corneliani, while Bottega Veneta Burberry and Gucci dare with patterns and colors while Missoni and Herschel opt for a more practical and rigorous look.

The classic laptop bags and briefcases prefer the rectangular shape and the black, as seen at Giorgio Armani, Berluti and Prada, but there are also more fanciful versions like in the military of Valentino Garavani and Orciani, the brushed leather or suede by Tod's or the mahogany color by Bally.
