Underwear or outwear? Suggested looks for her

One of the key trends of this season is the underwear-inspired style of many collections. Although the trend is not new, it is the way in which those garments are combined within a look that brings some novelty.

The trend started at the beginning of 20th century and, since then, several designers have interpreted the transformation of undergarments into clothes to wear. Paul Poiret and his slip dresses, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana and Vivienne Westwood being the champions of this trend.

This season, fashion has been seduced by slips and bras as evidenced by the contrasting laces of Céline, the wedding underwear inspiration by Givenchy, the bias cuts or slits by Saint Laurent and Balenciaga’s women wrapped in satin.

Long or short slips,  silky white long dresses and light, ruffled garments are the sexy and delicate protagonists of many collections and are unexpectedly matched to ‘banally common’ pieces as in the case of rain galoshes (Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent ), slip-ons (Calvin Klein) or cow-girl styled boots (Balenciaga).
